Leonidas N. Baxter

Funeral services for Leonidas N. Baxter, 78 years old, a resident of Indianapolis twenty-nine years, who died Friday at his home, 1928 Valley avenue [sic], will be held at 10 o'clock Wednesday morning at the Fountain Street M. E. Church. Burial will be in Washington Park Cemetery.

Mr. Baxter was the youngest of eleven brothers, seven of whom were in service during the civil war. Three are living. He was born in Jefferson county and lived there until coming to Indianapolis. He is survived by three brothers. Hiram and Edward Baxter of Illinois and Hayden Baxter of Colorado, nine children, Virgil Baxter of Denver, Col.; George Baxter of Los Angeles, Cal.; William Baxter of Needles, Cal. and Mrs. Virgil Spicklemire, Mrs. William Sosbey, Mrs. Claude Newmier and Mrs. Earl Fentner [sic Fenter], all of Indianapolis, Mrs. Harry Wigley of Los Angeles, Cal., and Mrs. Frank Egger of Hollywood, Cal. He also is survived by a sister, Mrs. R.A. Williams of Madison, twenty-two grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Baxter was a member of the George H. Chapman post, G.A.R., and the Fountain street church.
